What is SpiceNet BBS?SpiceNet BBS is a BBS software for both the C64 and C128 computers. There is seperate software for the 64 and 128. The 128 version can run in 80col mode on the system side. When calling a SpiceNet BBS with a normal C/G term, it appears as a nice BBS, but fairly run of the mill as far as C= BBS's go. However, when calling it with the MusicTerm client terminal, things DRASTICALLY change! Here's a listing of the more interesting features of the BBS when you use the MusicTerm client: - Full 3 voice music/sound effects at prompts, in messages, and etc.
- Users can compose music in their messages using a simple text entry. Kind of a musical notation.
- An offline music composer is included so you can compose your masterpiece offline then upload it.
- Redefined and animated character (font) sets.
- Sysop definable sprites shown in menus.
- Ability to use a joystick for online games.
- Sprites can also be used for online games.
- An autostarting file protocol aptly named the Spice Protocol.
- 2400Baud support with the updated 'host ML' file.
- Probably much more that I don't remember.
If there's more info you feel should be added to this FAQ, please post below and I'll add it. -P

Wow Darrell, I didn't know 64-net and 128-net are still around!!! I used to run Willow Creek BBS (from 1984 - 1990).. Those were the days!!!
If any of you were around back then before the "Internet" as we know it today, between Spicenet and Musicterm we rocked!!! It was great creating games that use the joysticks, a first I might say thanks to Darrell!!!

I knew Darrell way back when he started this BBS.. I ran a version from 1984-1988 first on the C64 then the 128.. I am actually looking to find a copy so I can put my Western Style BBS back up. It was called Willow Creek BBS.. (no affiliation to the church).. Many of you in South Texas may remember it back then.. Spicenet was the best BBS out there.. If anyone knows how I can get a copy (even if it $$), let me know.. I have a C64c and a wiModem which I can put back online..
