Thanks to Path0s, I was able to transplant some music code from his copy of the BBS to my own software. A demo can be heard using either MT3, or MT4 on Temporal Vortex BBS at bbs.petscii.com port: 6400 At the main menu using the hidden command "song1" to play the music file. Now, If I can just get a better understanding what the codes actually mean.... Jeff

There is a music composer program for Spice to compose music offline. Here's the info from some of the BBS docs in regards to the one of the new basic commands the BBS host program creates called "PLY". 'PLY pa$ This is the music command for use with MT3 users. You may play music just like the normal BASIC 7.0 PLAY command. If you put a value by itself (ie:'PLY"8") it will set the tempo(in this case set tempo to 8) Also, for MT3 users there is now an added envelope format: ex: 'PLY"+0,0,9,2,1,1" will set instrument 0 to a guitar sound. parameters are: 'PLY"+n,a,d,s,r,wf,pw,port, vib, vibs n is the instrument to change (0-9) a is the attack rate (0-15) d is the decay rate (0-15) s is the sustain rate r is the release reate (0-15) wf is the wave form (0=triangle,1=sawtooth,2=variable pulse,3=noise,4=ring modulation) pw is the pulse width(0-4095) for wave form of 2 port controls the portament and vib and vibs control the vibrato functions in the new MusicTerm 4. For the best information on the music, you will wish to look at the MusicEditor in the Xfers which contain extensive music help files.
To restore the instruments to their default settings use 'PLY"+r"
